Aaron Leggett was elected President of Native Village of Eklutna on Saturday, January 27, 2018, by an unprecedented write-in vote with a 41% quorum established. He was nominated from the floor at the meeting to be President.
Aaron was serving as the Tribal Council Treasurer, a position he has maintained for several years; therefore, he resigned the Treasurer position to take the Presidency, often called, “First Chief.” At a follow up meeting the Tribal Council selected his brother Adam Leggett to serve as the Treasurer. Aaron Leggett brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, academically, organizationally, inter-nationally, and culturally. Many of our Tribal Membership has expressed new hope for the future. Congratulations to Aaron!
The Tribal Council has the authority to appoint Full Tribal Members to vacant council positions.
